Porkbun is an ICANN-accredited registrar operated by Porkbun LLC in the United States; the registration agreement points disputes to the courts of Oregon. It sells domains directly, not through an upstream registrar.
Ownership and privacy. The customer is the registrant of the domain. Sign-up asks for personal details (name, postal address, e-mail, phone). WHOIS privacy is included by default for supported endings, at 0.00 USD: the public WHOIS shows Private By Design, LLC instead of your data. Contact data is verified by e-mail; photo ID is requested only for a subset of new accounts that Porkbun flags as risky.
Domain safety. Abuse reports are reviewed before action, and Porkbun says it only handles DNS-related abuse, not content or trademark disputes. The agreement however allows suspension without notice on breach or when required by ICANN, law or authorities. The auth code for a transfer out can be fetched in the dashboard yourself. Accounts support app-based TOTP and WebAuthn security keys; DNSSEC, free DNS hosting and an API are available.
Crypto payment. Crypto is accepted as USDC on the Base network via Coinbase Business; card, PayPal and (US accounts only) ACH bank transfer are the other options.
